Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

LynnA Note From the Editor: Lynn Donovan

Wow, Can you believe we are already a week into 2010?

I love new beginnings and there is just something about the start of a new year that brings new hopes, and promises of new and exciting adventures with the Lord. Did you know the Lord loves new beginnings as well? He has many plans for His Kingdom. Want to join Him?

Have you prayed about what the Lord has in store for your life this year? His deepest desire is to draw you closer to Him. He wants you to seek him with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

I have likely shared with you before how my life was forever changed by a Daily Bible. What is a Daily Bible you ask?

The One Year Bible consists of passages from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. This arrangement of Scripture brings variety and a fresh approach to each day's 15-minute reading, while providing a clear understanding of the Bible's larger message. No other "through the bible" plan presents the entire bible in such a user-friendly format.

In 1998 my mother purchased a Daily Bible for herself and one for me at a Women of Faith Conference we attended. I clearly remember the date, June 13, 1998. That is the beginning of my journey to a deep and vibrant relationship with Jesus.

I have read through the Bible every year since then. If you make one resolution this year, resolve to know God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. You will find Him in the pages of His Holy Word. And that's a promise!

In this month's Newsletter we have an invitation to our Winter Semester Bible Studies. Also see the block about our Spring Women's Retreat. Save the date and start saving for this life-changing weekend. You will find a great breakfast recipe and a powerful prayer for your new year in the Inspiration Corner.

May the Lord richly bless you and fill your heart with His amazing love and grace so much so that He leaves you breathless. Love and hugs, Lynn Donovan

 PamHappy 2010!
Happy 2010!  As we begin the new year, I know many of us start thinking about getting in shape.  As I sat eating leftover Christmas candy, I was thinking of this very same thing.
About four years ago, Val Gallaher (our most wonderful former Women's Ministry Director) invited me to try running with her and some friends.  Now I had never run a day in my life, but it sounded intriguing and maybe I'd lose a couple pounds, so I dragged myself out of bed at 5:00 a.m. and met her at the track....

Fast forward four years and I'm still running....I still weigh exactly the same and I still have to drag myself out of bed; but I'm running for different reasons than I had originally planned.   I do feel physically much stronger than I did before running, but the biggest blessing of running has been the friends I have made while we run.  There are a couple of groups of women who run together here at church.  The groups have changed and gotten bigger then smaller then bigger again depending on schedules (and whether we needed sleep that morning!); but when we run together, we talk about our relationship with God, our husbands, our friends, our lives.  It is wonderful.

I don't write this to convince you to try running, but to maybe start out this year ready to try something new and to be ready for God to do something unexpected and wonderful as you take a step (or jog) of faith.   If you think running at 5:00 a.m. sounds intriguing, then email me here at the church office and you can come join the rest of us maniacs who are up running, sweating and talking before the sun!

Happy New Year!

With love,

Pam

When Godly People Do Ungodly Things Tuesday 7 pm and Wednesday 9:30 am

Arming Yourself in the Age of Seduction by Beth Moore examines why devoted followers of Christ can fall into the traps of Satan. Believers are still subject to Satan's attacks. He is determined to disrupt the lives of Christians, destroy their ministry, and steal their joy. Sadly, those who have "fallen" may not recognize the devil's schemes until they have already been caught in a snare of defeat. As a renowned teacher and seminar leader, Beth Moore receives countless letters from repentant Christians who are limping along this road. Out of her genuine, broken-hearted concern comes this biblical guide to authentic repentance and restoration. 1-2 hours of homework per week.

INSPIRATION CORNER

The Fellowship of the Unashamed

 By: Anne Graham Lotz

"I'm part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of His. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my Guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go 'til He comes, give 'til I drop, preach 'til all know, and work 'til He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me-my banner of identification with Jesus will be clear."
